4 Things the Dallas Cowboys Could Do With the 4th Overall Pick in the NFL Draft

Ezekiel Elliot is the best RB in this draft. By far. He's the only RB who will be drafted in the first round. He is NFL ready and would provide impact day one.

He is a plus receiver out of the backfield. He's a plus blocker in the backfield. He has good vision. He fits the Cowboys' one-cut, find-a-hole-and-run-hard scheme.

With a fragile Tony Romo, the running game is the most important key to the success of the 2016 season.

There are definite needs on defense, but if you have a running game that can keep the defense off the field and doesn't go 13 three and outs in a row, that will help the defense just as much as a premier defensive back.

The only negative is that Darren McFadden was a 1,000 yard rusher last year despite terrible QB play. Alfred Morris was also signed this off-season. While neither are long-term options, I don't know if the Cowboys are focused on long term as much as they are focused on the Tony Romo window.

Like Elliot, Ramsey is the best available at his position and maybe two positions.

Ramsey can play both corner and safety. He's the most dynamic player in this draft. He can blitz the passer and support the run. He's also great in coverage.

Ramsey will provide long term solutions with Brandon Carr obviously half way out the door and Morris Claiborne clinging to a starting job.

A Scandrick/Ramsey CB duo would add instant credibility to a pass defense that was missing depth at corner last year.

Ramsey also provides the depth to allow Byron Jones, the 2015 first round pick, to focus on safety.

Joey Bosa looked like the for sure pick early in the process but with the emergence of Elliot and Ramsey, Bosa is often a forgotten commodity.

Bosa is projected to be a good defensive end and a perennial All-Pro. Ten to 12 sacks and solid run support will be provided with plenty of patented shoulder shrugs.

This will not be a bad pick. It just isn't the splash that Elliot and Ramsey would provide.

Bosa, unlike the other two, isn't the undeniably best at his position in the draft. But he is the best option for the Rod Marinelli scheme this early in the draft.

It's my opinion the Cowboys will draft one of the other guys and focus on defensive line in round 2.

Adolphus Washington, a DT from Ohio State, and Vernon Butler, another DT from La Tech, are both options on day two of the draft.

If the Cowboys don't draft Bosa, they'll struggle the first four weeks of the season, but they'll survive.
