Texas Tech's special teams was very bad in 2017. Historically bad. They've been much improved in 2018, and it showed early in the Texas Tech game against Iowa State.

After a three-and-out from Texas Tech to start the game, Iowa State returned the favor by getting a three-and-out of their own and lined up to punt.

NOT SO FAST, IOWA STATE.

Thomas Leggett would take the punt to the gut, then pick it up for a touchdown.

That wasn't the end of Iowa State's struggles for the special teams in the 1st quarter. They also missed a 37-yard field goal by Connor Assalley, and had a 35-yard punt that gave Texas Tech the football at the Iowa State's 43.

That put Texas Tech in position for a scoring drive as they finished it off with a 28-yard Clayton Hatfield field goal to make the game 10-0.

Texas Tech would take that score all the way through the first quarter.
