Part of the Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center's roof collapsed following a brutal winter snowstorm that nearly crippled Lubbock.

The incident occurred Monday afternoon near the south end of the Byron Martin ATC's Automotive Technology Lab. According to Lubbock ISD, the portion of roof that collapsed was built as an extension.

"District officials surmise that snow drifted on the lower level and runoff of melting snow from the higher areas of the roof caused the roof to give way under the additional weight," the school district said.

No injuries were reported due to the collapse.

The ATC will be closed on Tuesday, January 5, while building damage is assessed.
