It was on this day in 1983 that founding member and drummer of The Beach Boys Dennis Wilson drowns while swimming near his boat in the harbor at Marina del Ray, Calif.

Dennis Wilson was a huge part of The Beach Boys taking charge in the song writing and lead vocals of the group through the 60's and 70's. Dennis Wilson is sometimes referred to fans as the "black sheep" of his family. Dennis was the second oldest of the three Wilson brothers. And cousin to Mike Love also of The Beach Boys. Dennis Wilson would alsao release a solo album in 1977 entitled "Pacific Ocean Blue" to critical acclaim.

Through out the career with The Beach Boys a topic seems to come up ivolving the relationship between them and Charles Manson.

The topic of Dennis Wilson and Charles Manson and The Beach Boys have been talked about for years and years. You can read this article that I found (amongst 100's of others) talking about their relationship. including the use of a Charles Manson song that he had wrote entitled "Never Learn Not To Love" which can found on The Beach Boys 1969 album 20/20. The band would change several of Charles Manson's lyrics in the song.

Here are couple songs as we remember Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys.
