Dick Clark Had Prostate Surgery the Day Before He Died

We'd heard that Dick Clark had some kind of medical procedure the day before he died of a heart attack. And now we know what it was.

According to the death certificate, Dick had prostate surgery due to, quote, "acute urinary retention" which was caused by an enlarged prostate.

Congressman David Dreider (who was a friend of Dick's) explained the situation a little more clearly. He said, quote, "[Dick] had very minor prostate surgery. All of a sudden, he got a feeling in his arm about 9:30 [the next] morning and he was gone by 11:15. It turned out to be a massive heart attack."
