El Paso police are searching for a man they say assaulted a store clerk with a plate of tacos he was attempting to steal.

According to the El Paso Police Department, said the man, who was captured by surveillance cameras, purchased a 12-pack of beer from the Circle K located on 1520 N. Lee Trevino, and then later returned to the food counter and began serving himself tacos.

Police said the suspect then left the store without paying for the tacos. When confronted by the clerk outside the store, the man hit her in the face with the plate of tacos. The clerk suffered a cut and swelling to the left side of her face, police said.

The man then fled on foot, police said. Police are now are asking for the public's help in catching the guy. He is described as Hispanic, light skin, in his mid to late twenties, 5’10” to 6’, heavy set, black hair in an afro, beard, and was wearing retro 70s glasses, a white t-shirt, black shorts, white socks and black tennis shoes.
