In 2006, Abby’s husband and two young children were killed in a car accident. Over the next three years, she descended into despair, and her health declined considerably. Working It Out tells the story of her journey overcoming tragedy and learning to live again.

In 2009, Abby embarked on a very public journey of healing and wellness when she joined the contestants on “The Biggest Loser.” Abby began her journey on the show weighing 247 pounds. By the December finale, she weighed an amazing 147 pounds, having lost 100 total pounds. She continues to be an advocate for a healthy lifestyle and positive outlook on life. She is now a motivational speaker sharing her message of lessons in faith, strength and resilience.

“We are so pleased to offer our guests the opportunity to meet Abby Rike and purchase a personally signed copy of her inspiring book,” said Shelby Crews, community relations manager for United Supermarkets, LLC. “She has a powerful story to share, and the United Supermarkets team is honored to host this event.”

The event is free, and Abby’s book, Working It Out, A Journal of Love, Loss and Hope, will be available for purchase at $16.49 per copy.

During her visit to Lubbock, Abby also will be speaking to students and employees of Lubbock Christian University, and to members of The Executive Forum.
