Beloved Lubbock restaurant Gardski's will permanently close after the business owner's renovation plans hit a snag.

According to Gardski's owners, there were issues with the building's structural integrity that halted their dreams of rebuilding the iconic restaurant.

"We never thought we would rebuild the building from the inside out," the restaurant said in a post on their Facebook page. "Unfortunately, there were, and still are, too many structural obstacles that we couldn’t overcome."

The business has been under renovation for around a year.

"We want to thank everyone who has shared their support in person, phone calls and via social media, throughout the last 12 months, and especially this week," said Weldon Warren, Gardski's owner, in a press release. "There were many wonderful memories made at Gardski's in the past, and having the community support has meant a lot to us."

Warren said that after purchasing the business in 2015, the plan was to close it "for six weeks, max" and conduct "minor renovations."

But all is not lost for Warren. The owner plans to move forward with plans to begin his project at a different Lubbock location and open a new restaurant.

"We don't have the details finalized, but we'll keep everyone in the loop. It's coming together pretty quickly," said Warren.

No date has been set for Warren's new restaurant to open.
