I Think I Dated Someone Who Was Just Arrested For Stealing Cars

Ok I just googled it. I did date someone who was just arrested for car theft. Wow, this is kind of weird.

Way back shortly after high school, so this was many years ago, I briefly dated a girl named Brie. We had fun and she was a very sweet girl. We stayed friends after, at least I think we did. It was a loooooooong time ago.

I saw her again maybe 5 years ago at a concert. We became Facebook friends and that was about it. Other than that I hadn't seen her except when she posted something on Facebook that popped up on my feed. Like she would send me happy birthday wishes and stuff.

Then comes Wednesday. As I was scrolling through my feed, as I do every day looking for interesting things to blog about, I spotted a link to a Lubbock Online story about a chop shop bust. So I saved the link to check it out later. Yesterday I clicked through the link and started reading, which is when I read this:

Cody Lester, 29, Coy Lisbon, 30, and Brielle Winton, 40, are each charged with a third-degree felony count of theft between $30,000 and $150,000, which carries a punishment of two to 10 years in prison.

I stopped instantly. Brie's last name is Winton. Seriously, how many Brie Wintons can there be in Lubbock? But then I thought, well maybe there's two of them. So today when I started writing this blog I googled it a few different ways. Then I saw this:

As you can see, by the way the link is purple, I clicked through there and found this:

Yep. That's her. I was right, there's only one Brie in Lubbock and I dated her. Not that that means anything. Except that its a slightly strange feeling to know someone who is the subject of an arrest story and see their mugshot. I hope everything works out positively for her and she has a chance to make a good life again.
