Do you love The Thing? Do you wish you, too, could trap yourself in a snowed-in bunker with a bunch of other people and one bloodthirsty, shapeshifting alien? Good news! Mondo, the company behind pretty much every amazing non-official movie poster you’ve ever seen, has come out with a board game based on the John Carpenter classic, and we’ve got your first look at it right here.

Entertainment Weekly debuted a bunch of photos of The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31, which will be out in stores in October.

Here’s EW’s description of the game’s story:

The game takes place at the start of the bleak, desolate Antarctic winter when a group of NSF researchers manning the claustrophobic, isolated U.S. Outpost 31 comes into contact with a hostile extraterrestrial life-form. Bent on assimilating Earth’s native species, this being infiltrates the facility — creating a perfect imitation of one of the Outpost 31 crew. The staff frantically begin a sweep of the base, desperate to purge this alien infection before escaping to warn McMurdo Station that somewhere, out there in the frigid darkness, something horrible is waiting.

If you can’t wait for it to hit store shelves, there’s a limited edition version that’ll be available on Mondo’s site MondoTees.com. There are only 1,982 copies (because the original film came out in, heh, 1982), which contain the game, different cover artwork, a Mondo print, a pin, and two more game characters, “The Norwegian Character” and “The Palmer Thing.”
