J. Geils Doesn’t Want His Band to Use His Name Without Him

What is the J. Geils Band without J. Geils?  ILLEGAL...claims J. Geils.

Last month, four members of the group announced that they'd be touring without Geils.  And now, he's SUING them for trademark infringement and deceptive business practices.

His lawyer says, quote, "Mr. Geils has this trademark and never transferred it to anybody.  These guys performed in Mr. Geils' band, but that doesn't give them the right to grab the name."

Geils secured the legal rights to the name in 2009, but an attorney for the rest of the band says he did it without telling them.
