A request by a Lubbock County man charged with the sexual assault of a child to have his bond lowered so he can get out of jail will be decided Tuesday, May 31.

James Holland appeared in Lubbock court Friday morning (May 27), where his defense argued that the 39-year-old's $2 million bond was excessive and should be reduced, reports Everything Lubbock.

If the judge decided to grant the request and Mr. Holland was able to post bond, conditions of his release may include: Wearing an ankle monitor; having no contact with minors; observing a curfew; and attending pre-trial services.

Holland was arrested in March for aggravated sexual assault of a child. The victim is said to be a female relative of Mr. Holland's stepdaughter Holli Jeffcoat, who had also been sexually abused and was found murdered in her Idalou home in February.

Holland's wife and Jeffcoat's mother, Debi Holland, was arrested in April and charged with aggravated sexual assault.

Mrs. Hollland's arrest warrant said that she knew about the sexual abuse her daughter and the other victim suffered and did nothing to prevent it or report it. In addition, the warrant claimed Jeffcoat was pregnant by Mr. Holland - something Mrs. Holland also allegedly knew, but ignored because her husband was paying her bills.

Mrs. Holland is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.

Earlier this month, friends and family of Holli Jeffcoat gathered at Wildcat Park in Idalou on what would have been the teen's 19th birthday for a memorial vigil and balloon release.
