Tuesday night, Jodey Arrington beat Glen Robertson in the Republican Primary Runoff for the 19th Congressional District. Arrington led in both the early voting and total voting for the election, finishing with 53.66 percent of the votes. He held his campaign watch party at the Rawls Course at Texas Tech.

Arrington thanked Texas Tech Chancellor Emeritus Kent Hance for his help on his campaign.

"I want to thank Kent Hance," Arrington started. "Just when I thought I had learned all the lessons of leadership from you and Don (unintelligible), and George W. Bush. Well, Kent. R. Hance didn't think I had learned everything. So, when I went to the Kent R. Hance 'school of management and leadership' at Texas Tech, and I am proud to say I got my PhD."

Arrington also thanked his staff and supporters. "We weren't perfect, but we were consistent in being excellent as a team," he said. "We were consistent in having integrity in running this race in a way that we hope you guys were proud of."

Arrington now moves on to represent the Republican Party in the November General Election for Texas 19th Congressional District. He will be running against Troy Bonar from the Libertarian Party and Mark Lawson from the Green Party.
