A man armed with several knives broke into a home on 2nd Street in Lubbock and was shot by the man who lived there.

Emergency crews were dispatched to a home near Norwich early Friday night (Nov. 11) after receiving a call about a shooting, reports Everything Lubbock.

Authorities believe that the suspect was not in his right mind, but couldn't elaborate.

According to Lt. Bryan Taylor with the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office, the man had "some kind of medical episode where he was hallucinating."

The man who shot the knife-wielding suspect struck him once, wounding him. The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
