A platinum album awarded for Led Zeppelin‘s double-album ‘Physical Graffiti’ has sold for $2,000 on a recent auction on eBay.

Released on February 24, 1975, ‘Physical Graffiti’ was the sixth studio album by the band, and contains such classics as ‘Custard Pie’ and ‘Trampled Under Foot’ and  ’Kashmir,’ which recently came in at No. 2 in our countdown of the Top 100 Classic Rock Songs. The album was produced by Jimmy Page.

Eight of its 15 songs were recorded during a two-month stretch at Headley Grange in East Hampshire, England. Following the sessions, they realized that it was too long to fit on one disc, so rather than remove or edit one or two songs, they decided to include previously unreleased songs and release a double album. As a result, the musical styles are diverse, ranging from British folk to funk to Eastern-influenced rock.

As with all of their albums with the exception of their self-titled debut, ‘Led Zeppelin IV’ and 1982′s ‘Coda,’ ‘Physical Graffiti’ went to No. 1 on the Billboard album charts. It has been certified 16x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The platinum album that was sold commemorates the sale of more than 4 million copies of ‘Physical Graffiti.’ The certification’s authenticity is guaranteed by the RIAA hologram on the plate.
