Legendary banjo player Earl Scruggs died yesterday morning in Nashville. He was 88.

Most people remember Earl as one half of Flatt & Scruggs. They played the instruments on the theme song to 'The Beverly Hillbillies'.

The song's official title is 'The Ballad of Jed Clampett' and the vocals were done by singer Jerry Scoggins.

Lester Flatt passed away in 1979.
