An unbelievable story and a life changing decision put this Lubbock hero in the right place at the right time to save Monea Burtraw.

Army Pfc. D'Marcus Ranson stepped in to save the life of Burtraw after she was stabbed multiple time outside Snow's Party House on East 4th Street. A teenage suspect was later arrested by Lubbock police for the stabbing.

In the face of such violence, it's remarkable to see this heroic act by Pfc. Ranson, who jumped in and took life-saving measures, making the critical difference for Burtraw. He used his shirt to apply pressure to two separate wounds and helped her hold on until she could be rushed to the hospital.

Pfc. Ranson said in an interview with Everything Lubbock (which you can watch above) that he almost didn't go out that fateful night. "I guess stuff happens for a reason," he said.

Pfc. Ranson was in the waiting room with Burtraw's family waiting for news of her condition. Burtraw, who eventually pulled through, couldn't be more grateful for his heroic efforts.

Let's take some time to celebrate this Lubbock hero. It's an incredible story to help strengthen our faith in humanity.
