The Lubbock High Westerners have officially filled the position of head football coach following the departure of Jason Strunk.

Shane Stephen is the new man in charge of the Lubbock High Football team. He's also been named the athletic coordinator.

Stephen is currently the Assistant Head Coach at Mansfield High. He also spent time at Mansfield Summit and Witchita Falls High School.

Per the LISD release: "Stephen earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Northern Colorado and his Master of Science degree in Sports Administration from the University of Wyoming."

Stephen describes himself as an experienced coach with strong leadership skills and wants to increase participation in all athletic programs. He also wants to instill a winning culture while being dedicated to the success of every athlete.

Stephen is married and has four children.

"Shane Stephen, we believe he brings a lot to the table," said District Athletics Director Mike Meeks. "He's equipped with everything we're looking for to build a total structure at Lubbock High School. He's been in Mansfield for 10 years and has some extensive experience in Texas. He has some college experience too that doesn’t hurt. We really believe he'll provide the structure to build us a program over time."
