Lubbock Meals on Wheels Puts on 23rd Annual ‘Feed a Friend, It’s as Easy as Pie’ Fundraiser

For the 23rd consecutive year, Lubbock Meals on Wheels is enlisting the help of United Supermarkets for the “Feed a Friend – It’s as Easy as Pie” fundraiser. 

This year’s project will take place from November 14-22. For a $5 donation to Meals on Wheels, participants will receive a coupon for a free Sara Lee pie.

Varieties include: homestyle apple, dutch apple, cherry, pumpkin, mince, sweet potato, and peach.

Lubbock Meals on Wheels hopes to raise $70,000 with this fundraiser.  Donations can be made at any Lubbock United Supermarket or at the Lubbock Meals on Wheels’ office, located at 2304 34th St.

Lubbock Meals on Wheels serves hot, nutritious meals to over 700 homebound, elderly and disabled people each weekday, totaling over 170,000 meals annually.  The organization depends completely on the community for financial support, receives no governmental funding, and is not aUnited Wayfunded agency. Over 1200 volunteers and twelve staff members carry out the mission of Lubbock Meals on Wheels.

WHERE: Donations can be made at local United Supermarkets (through the cashier, at the customer service counter or to the Lubbock Meals on Wheels’ representative in the store) or at the Lubbock Meals on Wheels’ office, 2304-34^th Street.

HOW: For a $5 donation to Lubbock Meals on Wheels, donors will receive a coupon for a free Sara Lee pie. Coupons are redeemable at Lubbock United Supermarkets through December 31, 2014.
