Lubbock Police state there was no shooting near Texas Tech on Friday evening. Instead, a road rage incident was investigated in the 2500 block of the Marsha Sharp Freeway.

According to Lubbock Police, two drivers stopped at a stop light and were involved in a confrontation. One man punched the other, then drove away from the scene. The man who was punched talked to police and refused medical treatment.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

[Original Story] Friday evening, just after 8 p.m., Texas Tech sent out a TechAlert! concerning a shooting near campus

LPD IS INVESTIGATING AN OFF CAMPUS SHOOTING INCIDENT AT MARSHA SHARP FREEWAY AND UNIVERSITY AVE. SUSPECT WAS SEEN LEAVING THE AREA IN A GOLD VEHICLE AFTER SHOOTING AN INDIVIDUAL. APPEARS TO BE AN ISOLATED EVENT. AVOID THE AREA AND CALL LUBBOCK POLICE IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION AT 806-775-2865.

As of 8:15 p.m., Lubbock Police have not commented on the shooting investigation, and no word on if any arrests have been made.

The northwest corner of the intersection of University Avenue and the Marsha Sharp Freeway features apartment complexes and restaurants constructed in recent years.
