We're into 2016 and a lot of us are already lagging with our New Year's resolutions to eat better and get healthier. United Supermarket families is here to help.

Robin Hawkins with United Supermarkets told us about the company's health fair to be held at Amigos and Market Street locations throughout Lubbock this weekend.

Amigos, located at 112 North University, will feature free glucose, BMI (body mass index) and cholesterol screenings at its health fair this Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Market Street will hold their health fair Saturday and Sunday, January 9 and 10, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at three locations: 4425 19th St., 3405 50th St. and 4205 98th St.

The focus at the Market Street health fair is Build A Better Basket, aiming to educate and help consumers pick healthier options for the new year. Adding more green to your basket -- whether it's avocado, pomelos, pistachios, leafy greens and green drinks -- will be the goal, said Hawkins.

Build a Better Basket also goes hand-in-hand with United Supermarket's 2016 Color Your Basket campaign, with January's color being green.

So if you're just getting started with endeavors to be a healthier you in 2016 or you've been living healthier for some time, the health fairs will help you to stay on track and have a healthier, happier and more colorful you in 2016 and in the years to come.
