When Neil Diamond heard that Fenway Park was going to reopen on Saturday, he decided that he HAD to be there.  So he caught a red-eye out of L.A. Friday night so he could hit the field and sing "Sweet Caroline" LIVE.

The song has been played before the bottom of the eighth inning during every game at Fenway since 2002.

It was a great gesture, but the performance didn't go off without a hitch.  Because Neil didn't sing to an instrumental track.  He just sang along to the song.  And he was off with his own voice on the recording.

And because he wasn't wearing an earpiece, he was behind the song by almost a second, so it was a little distracting.
