We were curious to investigate the changes at the former Sheridan's Frozen Custard, now called J's Creamery. With all this hot, hot weather, we were also craving frozen custard.

Despite the construction still in progress, the drive-thru was busy and there was a line-up of folks sitting out front on benches enjoying their frozen custards. So far so good, everyone looked happy!

The construction crew told us they were working to add tile and that the painters would be finishing up the signage next.

At the window, the staff was helpful and friendly. I was able to sample both the chocolate and the vanilla custard -- both were smooth, creamy, with rich flavors and really delicious. They explained that although some of the menu item names had to be changed a little, the flavor is the same. They're also working to grow their menu with some original creations.

I wanted to try one of their best-sellers. They told me the two most popular concrete flavors were Dirt & Worms and Wedding Cake. Even though I'm a confirmed chocoholic, I found myself ordering a Wedding Cake concrete. (Maybe it's just because we've had weddings on our minds!)

Something about a delicious piece of wedding cake blended into that vanilla custard just sounded like a must-have treat. As you can see in the video above, it was deee-licious and I was all smiles!

I would say our trip to Jay's Creamery was an all-around positive experience. They were on top of their game with quality, and there's no doubt they have more creative flavor ideas to come!

They're not sure when construction will be completed, but when it is they are planning a festive Grand Opening. They also plan to eventually add monthly specials.

Keep an eye on J's Creamery. I'm confident they're keeping pace with Lubbock's high expectations and won't disappoint.
