On This Day in Music History: 1974-ZZ Top Goes Gold [VIDEO]
The marvelous ZZ Top album "Tres Hombres", featuring the song about a little town in Texas called "La Grange", was certified Gold on this day in 1974! You may know that this song was inspired by real-life events. What you don't know is that I have a personal connection to this particular American classic!
That's right! If you remember the movie "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas", you remember when the newspaperman was punched out by the sheriff, played by Burt Reynolds.
Well, the movie was based on true events and SOMEBODY had to represent that newspaperman in court. That "somebody" was my cousin, Larry Joe Doherty...also known as the judge who hosted "Texas Justice" on the Fox network!
