Part of Last Sunday’s “Breaking Bad” Was Inspired By a 16-Year-Old Fan, Who Died of Cancer

An element of last Sunday’s episode of “Breaking Bad” was inspired by a 16-year-old fan of the show, who passed away earlier this year of cancer.

The kid, Kevin Cordasco, was suffering from neuroblastoma…but before he died, he got the chance to meet some members of the cast, and the show’s creator, Vince Gilligan.

Gilligan offered to tell Kevin how “Breaking Bad” would end…but he declined, saying that he planned to live to see it live himself.  Sadly, he didn’t.

However, he DID make a mark on the show.  On the “Breaking Bad Insider” podcast, Gilligan said he once asked Kevin if he felt there was anything missing from the show.

And Kevin said, quote, “You know what, I want to know more about Gretchen and Elliott.  I want to know more about Walt’s backstory with them.  I want to know what happened.”

And Gilligan said that’s why Gretchen and Elliott were brought back on last Sunday’s episode.  (There’s no need to go into specifics.  If you don’t watch “Breaking Bad”, it won’t mean anything to you…if you do, you saw it.)

(And if you’re not caught up, it’s a potential spoiler.)

Here’s a photo of Kevin alongside “Breaking Bad” stars Bob Odenkirk, Bryan Cranston and Anna Gunn:
