Former Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes made another appearance at a Red Raiders game, this time speaking with FOX Sports Southwest's Lesley McCaslin on the sidelines at the Baylor game.

Mahomes reminisced about his last game in college football, which was against the Baylor Bears in 2016. In that game, he threw for 500+ yards. "It was awesome to get the win, have a great last moment with all the guys out here, and glad to be back now watching them winning this game," he said.

The ex-Red Raider had praise for current QB Nic Shimonek.

"He's done awesome, he's done everything I expected him to do," Mahomes said. "Come in, be a leader, be super-efficient, get the team in good spots. It shows today. I think he's thrown like two incompletions or something like that. Very efficient guy, and a very hard-working guy."

It was then McCaslin said what could be the understatement of the century -- at least for fans in Lubbock, Texas.

"Clearly it hasn't been the season Tech had hoped for," she said, before asking Mahomes what head coach Kliff Kingsbury means for the program.

"I just think he brings a lot of passion and love for the program. You see it with the guys, going out there, fighting until the very end. I mean, that's just how he is - a guy who loves Texas Tech and loves this program and wants to get it turned in the right direction," Mahomes said.

Texas Tech went on to beat Baylor, 38-24, moving their season record to 5-5 and one win away from Bowl game eligibility.
