Don't kill the messenger here, guys.

Personally, I've only really ever known Plainview as the place I stop to get a soda on the way to Amarillo. Well, I did know one really sketchy dude from Plainview, but's that another story.

This is according to, a website that purports its "goal is to show you the real side of places that not everyone wants to hear. We use data to create bite-sized snacks of shareable information about places and cities across the country."

So, why is Plainview so "white trash"? These are the metrics:

  • Lots of white people
  • Residents are poorer than average
  • High number of residents are high school dropouts
  • High drug use
  • Higher than average Payday Loan Outlets and Dollar Stores
  • Violent cities (measured in aggravated assaults)
  • High number of residents on welfare

Other cities to make the white trash list include: Lufkin (which is no. 1), Texarkana, Dallas (really?), Greenville, Vidor, Brownwood, Texas City, Stephenville and Corsicana.

Hey, I'm not judging. I've probably stopped in all of those cities at some point to get Slim Jims and original flavor Monsters.
