Randy Newman has released a song called 'I'm Dreaming', with a chorus that resembles the tune of Irving Berlin's 'White Christmas'. That sounds harmless enough, but Randy's refrain is: 'I'm dreaming of a white president'.

The lyrics include the lines:

"I'm dreaming of a white President / Just like the ones we've always had

A real live white man / Who knows the score

How to handle money or start a war

Wouldn't even have to tell me what we were fighting for.

"I'm dreaming / Buh buh buh, buh buh buh

'Cause things have never been this bad

So he won't run the hundred in ten seconds flat

So he won't have a pretty jump shot

Or be an Olympic acrobat.

"So he won't know much about global warming

Is that really where you're at?

He won't be the brightest, perhaps

But he'll be the whitest

And I'll vote for that."

You can listen to the song in the video below.  It's also available to download at SoundCloud.com.  It's free . . . but Randy is encouraging listeners to donate to the United Negro College Fund.

Obviously, this is a SATIRICAL song.  Randy says it was partially inspired by the racial undercurrents in some of the attacks on President Obama.

He says, quote, "It's clear that there are lots of people out there who are uncomfortable [with a black president]."

He adds, quote, "It's a reaction to the Republican Party, which seems to have drifted farther to the right than a major party has drifted in my lifetime in any direction.

"It seems to have become almost a radical party.  The hate and . . . I don't think it'll last.  That kind of thing doesn't seem to last."

Randy may be best known now for doing the music for a bunch of Pixar movies, including the "Toy Story" movies.  But he's done satire before, including the song "Rednecks" in 1974 and "Short People". WARNING:  "Rednecks" has UNCENSORED N-WORDS.

What do you think? Is it wrong for me to point out that Randy is a rich, white, older guy...just like the Republicans he's referring to in this song? I'm not trying to make a political statement or anything, but Randy apparently hates himself and wrote a song about it.
