Sting has released the first single from his upcoming 57th & 9th album, "I Can't Stop Thinking About You." You can check out the studio version of the song above, and watch the former Police star perform it live earlier this morning, with help from Tex-Mex band the Last Bandoleros, below.

Since releasing his most recent "traditional" studio album, 2003's Sacred Love, Sting has experimented with lutes (2006's Songs From the Labyrinth), Christmas music (2009's If on a Winter's Night ... ), orchestral reworkings of his back catalog (2010's Synchronicities) and his own Broadway show (captured in soundtrack form on 2013's The Last Ship.)

57th & 9th producer Martin Kierszenbaum says the new album recalls the more stripped-down approach of the Police, promising fans, "I don't think he's rocked like this since [1983's] Synchronicity." Sting himself seems to disagree, dismissing the Police's 2007-08 reunion tour as simply "an exercise in nostalgia" and declaring that his focus on this album was to see what developed spontaneously in the studio with a group featuring Dominic Miller and Vinnie Colaiuta, both longtime members of his touring band.

Earlier this summer, Sting embarked on the highly collaborative and rapturously received Rock Paper Scissors tour with Peter Gabriel. There are currently no plans for any tour in support of 57th & 9th, which hits stores in the now-standard variety of formats (deluxe edition, vinyl, etc.) on Nov. 11.
