The #3 Texas Tech baseball team faced arguably their toughest test of the season when they played host to the #15 South Alabama Jaguars in a four game set a Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.

A great weekend of pitching and great offensive firepower from people like Michael Davis would result in Tech taking all four games against South Alabama and would also make them the Team of the Week in the NCAA. They were also the only Top 25 team to wrap up last week with a 6-0 record.

The duo of Davis Martin and John McMillon have held down the pitching rotation after the devastating news of Steven Gingery. The pair are continuing to be effective as they won both of their respective starts this weekend both going 5 innings each and improving their records to 3-0.

The high powered Tech offense was at it again this weekend as they scored more than 8 runs in three of the four games against South Alabama. Grant Little racked up seven hits with a pair of RBIs and six runs scored. The sophomore now holds a team-high three home-runs and .458 average after his latest offensive barrage.

Senior, Michael Davis also had a great weekend for the Red Raiders as he collected 10 hits including two homeruns and drove in nine runs this week helping to propel the Red Raiders to the sweep of the ranked Jaguars which was the first four-game sweep of a ranked opponent for the Red Raiders since 1996.

Next up for the Red Raiders will be a home matchup against New Mexico on Wednesday at 1 p.m. before they hit the road for a three game set against the #6 Kentucky Wildcats, in Lexington, beginning on Friday.
