For the last 16 years, The Library Bar has always been one of my favorite places to chill on almost any night. But what I didn't know was owner Mark Martinez and his wife wanted to bring a bit of Austin to the Hub City when they bought the bar two years ago. They did just that, and they did it well.

The Library Bar is celebrating their Sweet 16 with a special event on Saturday, June 23, 2018. They'll have free appetizers from 4 - 7 p.m., door prizes from 4 - 9 p.m., and DJ Bad Beat from 10 p.m. to closing. And they've come a long way in 16 years.

The bar has a newer look and feel, thanks in part to Martinez's time living in Austin.

"Being in the bar business (in Austin), we wanted to incorporate some of the things we saw and learned," Martinez explained.

Martinez has updated everything about The Library Bar -- from the game room and literature-inspired decor to college nights and live music. They really do have something for everyone.

They remodeled everything, including the bathrooms, flooring, tables, bar stools and more. Then, there's the food and drinks.

"We revamped our food menu, with a lot of fresh options," Martinez said. "And we added some high end bourbons, rums and tequilas."

And if that wasn't cool enough, it's Red Raider owned and operated.
