Last year the Texas Tech Red Raiders beat the Texas Longhorns for the first time in Austin since 1997. This year they will try to beat the Longhorns in Lubbock for the first time since 2008.

Obviously the feel is much different for this years game. In 2008 the Red Raiders were ranked 7th in the nation and Texas was number 1. The other big difference, the 2008 contest was a night game, the 2016 version is at 11:00 am.

That's right, when the Longhorns come to town on Saturday, November 5th, the game will kickoff at 11:00 am. It will be in front of a sellout crowd though. The game will be part of the recent, "Lone Star Series" but unfortunately the Red Raiders won't be wearing the Texas themed uniforms featured in the image at the top of the page. Apparently I was the only one who was a fan. Last season the Red Raiders wore the Zach Thomas Era throwbacks in Austin.

The last 11:00 am game Texas Tech played was at home vs West Virginia. I think embarassing was the word most used to describe it. It was not a great game. Hopefully the crowd can make a difference and be loud and stay for an afternoon game.

If you hate the 11:00 am kickoff as much as I do, here is a petition to change the kickoff time. The petition only has 2000 signatures right now but it could happen! Right? Probably not.

The game against Texas is the final home game of the Texas Tech season.

You will be able to watch the game on Fox Sports 1.

Since the game is the final home game the Seniors of the club will be honored during the pregame festivities. Some notable Seniors include, Reginald Davis, Devin Lauderdale and Baylen Brown on Offense. Justis Nelson, Keenon Ward and Kris Williams on Defense.
