It's almost Spring, and this Sunday, March 13, 2016, we spring forward and begin daylight savings time. What one little delicious nugget also signals the beginning of sunny, warm days?

Strawberries. Yes, it's officially strawberry season, and we talked to Brenda Duby with United Supermarket families about the importance of strawberries and the big secret these little berries hold.

One cup, which is about eight strawberries, is only around 45 calories -- that's one third of the calories of a banana, half the sugar of an apple, more vitamin C than an orange.and more than twice the fiber of a cup of grapes.

So Duby suggests celebrating "Strawberry-palooza." You can eat them alone, put them in yogurt, frozen yogurt, oatmeal or even on ice cream.

And another little secret: Blending strawberries with blackberries, honey and chia seeds and putting them in a jar in the fridge makes for a homemade jam that is completely natural and delicious. Plus, you'll get important Omega 3s from the chia seeds and it stays fresh in the fridge for about a week.

It's Spring, so let's 'strawberry up.'
