19-Year-Old Man Dies in Multi-Vehicle Crash in South Lubbock
A 19-year-old man is dead after Saturday's multi-vehicle crash on I-27 in South Lubbock.
Police said at around 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 6th, officers responded to the 7200 block of I-27 for a crash involving three vehicles.
Through initial investigation, officers said a Nissan pickup was having maintenance issues as it was traveling in the southbound left lane of I-27. A Ford pickup truck, pulling a trailer, rear-ended the vehicle.
Another pickup pulling a trailer was also struck during the collision, police said, and a fourth pickup truck and a motorcycle hit debris from the initial crash.
Three people from the Nissan where taken to a local hospital with moderate to serious injuries. However, 19-year-old Mario Rivera-Franco, who was in the bed of the pickup truck, was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
This crash is still under investigation.
