For all you mommies out there with school-age children, some of you may be dealing with the back-to-school blues, and some of you are more than ready for your kids to go back to school.

Last year was my son's first year of school, and it was really scary for both of us.

For me, it was nerve-racking because he is my only child and my baby boy. I've been there for all his firsts and time just seemed to fly by when it comes to him growing up.

Secondly, he had NEVER been in a school environment with all of its structure and order. Once he got the hang of things, he was good to go. And this year, he is more than ready to go back to school.

Now, it's back to early bed times, buying school supplies and homework.

Getting back into the bed time routine is not always easy -- especially if school hasn't quite started yet.

The best thing to do is to begin setting boundaries early on by setting a bed-time and wake-up time for your kids. Once they're up in the morning, start a morning routine (i.e. breakfast, brush your teeth, get dressed, etc.).

Remember: the key is consistency. Once you start changing things up, it messes your kids up, too. So try to stick to a strict schedule.

If you're a procrastinator like I am sometimes, you're probably on the hunt for school supplies. If you missed out on tax-free weekend last weekend, it's not too late to find some last-minute back to school deals.
