This is awesome. I can't believe we're getting another big-name comedian at the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences.

First, there was Steve Trevino & Friends, then comedian's comedian Brian Regan, and now the iconic comedian/satirist Bill Maher has booked a date at The Buddy Holly Hall. Maher will come to Lubbock on Saturday, July 31st, 2021.

Maher hosted Politically Incorrect and now hosts HBO's Real Time With Bill Maher. He was a recipient of a star on the Hollywood Walk of fame 11 years ago. Maher has been a polarizing figure for many, many years, because the second you think you have him pinned down, he surprises you.

Maher is also responsible for the documentary Religulous, which skewered pretty much every religion on the planet from an up-close and personal standpoint. The documentary was very successful pulling in an estimated $13.9 million on a $2.5 million budget.

Maher's appearance in one of the most conservative cities in America is bound to have its critics, but hearing voices from all over is why we as humans grow. His stand-up shows aren't political rallies; he tends to pull jokes from many different topics as any seasoned comedian would.

I wonder if he remembers his CSI: Lubbock bit?

There will be a special presale Thursday (May 13th) from 10 a.m. to midnight. If you want the exclusive presale code, download our app now, turn on push notifications and keep your eyes on your phone Thursday morning for the codeword.

Ticket go on sale to the general public on Friday, May 14th at 10 a.m.

This may be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see a controversial comedian in Lubbock, and we certainly hope his supporters turn out for this event. Our personal thanks go out to the Buddy Holly Hall for having what is already proving to be a very diverse group of events. The venue is probably playing around to see what works in Lubbock, and we hope they'll continue down this path.
