Officers with the Lubbock Police Department responded to a shooting that happened just after midnight on Friday, November 29th, 2019.

A resident in the 5700 block of 4th Street said that someone in the apartment above them had fired a shot that struck about 3 feet away from him. No one was injured in this incident.

KAMC News reports that police located a man who claimed he thought someone was trying to open the front door of his apartment when he unholstered his gun and it went off.

Justin Bryce Mahan was arrested for a misdemeanor charge of illegally discharging a firearm inside the city. He posted bond and was released that same morning.
