On Tuesday, March 24th, Covenant Health responded to the people who are donating time and materials in order to produce handmade medical masks by releasing instructions for the most effective pattern.

The worldwide COVID-19 pandemic has created a critical shortage of personal protective equipment for medical staff, which has many professionals in the industry fearful of exposure not only for themselves but for their families.

People have started making and donating handmade medical masks in order to combat the shortage of supplies, but most are proven to be ineffective in preventing the user from spreading or contracting the virus.

To better assist those who would like to contribute handmade masks, Covenant Health tested the effectiveness of several patterns and created step-by-step instructions for creating masks to be used by Covenant Health professionals.

Masks can be dropped off in the Covenant Medical Center parking lot at the corner of 21st St. and Indiana Ave.
