The details surrounding the shooting death of 39-year-old Seattle Salazar on Monday, August 9th have been revealed.

Lubbock Police initially received a call for reports of shots fired in the 1600 block of Avenue U. That call came in around 11:30 p.m.

On arrival, officers found Salazar in the roadway, dead from an apparent drive-by shooting.

A witness at the scene said that they saw an SUV circling the area before the shooting. KAMC News reports that surveillance video was used to track down that SUV, and it eventually led to officers speaking with the driver.

The driver told police that he picked up the suspect, 21-year-old Tazmin Paul, from work. Paul allegedly kept saying that someone was following him.

The driver was heading westbound when they stopped at a stop sign in the area, and that's when Paul is said to have pulled out a pistol and fired several rounds. The driver reportedly continued westbound and then turned south onto the next street. Afterwards, the driver told Paul to get out of the car.

Police were able to locate shell casings in the SUV that matched shell casings that were found at the scene along with text messages where the driver and Paul discussed the shooting.

Prosecutors are asking that Paul's bond be set at $500,000.
