Texas Penal Code Title 9 gives some pretty wild outlines and rules for how many "obscene devices" you can own in Texas, alongside other rules for pornography, prostitution, and the like in our state. I find it strange when anyone is so fascinated with another person's sex life that they feel the need to regulate it, but hey, these are strange times we're living in.

Bottom line, will you TRULY get arrested in Texas if you have too many sex toys?

Technically, you could be arrested, fined, or even thrown in prison for up to 2 years if you have more than 6 different kinds of sex toys in your possession. However, it's highly unlikely for it to happen to a single individual. The rules are more so in place to regulate businesses that may be some kind of criminal activity, mainly prostitution.

The odds of an officer busting into your one-bedroom apartment and demanding a head count of your...uhh..fun stuff...are pretty slim. That being said, if you own an adult store, you've got to have the proper permits to sell the goods, and they aren't messing around.

Back in 2007, a lingerie store here in Lubbock, Texas was raided after someone complained about their adult toy sales. It was overkill and senseless to go after them at all. They never came up with anything illegal. The charges were eventually dropped, but not before ruffling a whole bunch of feathers in town.

So, yes. You can get into trouble for having too many sex toys in Texas, but the likelihood is slim to none. They've got bigger fish to fry and probably aren't very concerned with your freakiness on the homefront.

...Then again, I guess you never quite know, do you?...
