Recently, the Dallas Zoo posted an announcement- a six-banded armadillo pup was born! The video attached shows a brand-new pink baby doing cute baby stuff like wiggling around and drinking from a bottle.

Why Is The Birth Of An Armadillo At The Zoo A "Big Dillo"?

The caption on the video describes the birth as a "big dillo" which many people misread as something fairly naughty. I'll admit my brain pulled the same trick on me.

If you don't get the joke, ask a trusted adult to explain it to you because I'm too embarrassed. Here are some of the comments on the post:

I did not read that as dillo, and was very disturbed for a moment.

it's to early and I need to go back to bed. I swore that said [redacted]

I read this COMPLETELY wrong, at first. I’m so sorry, little baby.

I, too, would like to express my apologies to the little baby. He's very precious and deserves better. Look at his teeny tiny ears!

Why Do Texans Love Armadillos So Much?

Armadillos are like a collective Texas mascot. The nine-banded armadillo is our official state small mammal. Their species range over most of Texas and the southeastern United States.

Other species, like the six-banded armadillo, live in Central and South America, which is why this little guy makes for an interesting addition to the Dallas Zoo.

Armadillos are incredibly unique- their bony plates and ability to roll up into a ball to protect themselves make them quirky, adorable, and like a living relic of more ancient species.

I am particularly fond of the Pink Fairy armadillo because its name and its looks just scream "Care Bear Cousin".

Welcome to the world, little Jaco! We promise to watch our language around you.
