Elderly Texas Man Confesses to Brutally Murdering Roommate and Her Dog
Sometimes, even an unsuspecting elderly person is capable of heinous acts of violence. This is one of those times.
84-year-old Jack Moore of Austin, Texas was recently charged with first-degree murder after he confessed to brutally murdering his 83-year-old roommate Linda Mlsna and her dog. Both were found deceased in Mlsna's University Hills area home on Monday afternoon.
A neighbor told police that Mlsna did not feel comfortable around Moore and that the two were having some problems living together just a month before her demise.
Moore was not present in the home when the bodies were discovered, but was later picked up on an unrelated warrant for a carjacking. That's when police discovered Moore had several of Mlsna's credit cards, which he'd been using to make fraudulent purchases since her death.
Moore told police he'd killed Mlsna and her dog, and that he'd planned to take her credit cards and feel the country.
CBS Austin reported that Moore had served prison time in the past and had an extensive criminal record, but that there had not been any domestic violence calls regarding Mlsna before the murders.
Mlsna lived in her home for over 25 years and her longtime neighbors, friends, and family are devastated and shocked by her loss.
Moore is being held at Travis County Jail on a $1 million bail.
This case is another stark reminder that you never really know who out there is truly capable of murder. Stay safe out there, friends, and fully vet anyone you allow to live in your home.
