Have You Been To The Largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade In Texas?
Texas has a little bit of Irish in it, especially when it comes to celebrations.
Texas Loves A Party
I'll go ahead and admit that I had no idea that Texas was home to one of the largest St. Patrick's Day parades anywhere. This idea just never came up on my radar, until I looked up at the calendar and saw that St. Patrick's Day is coming up on Monday, March 17th and started thinking about it. It's a little weird that I didn't know about it, because it's been a thing in the Metroplex since 1979!
Dallas, Texas Goes Green
Go ahead and get all of your green out, because the celebration is coming up soon. Dallas organizers do recognize that it's tough to party on a Monday, so this year's event will be Saturday March 15th. The parade will make it's way down Greenville Avenue at 11 a.m. Other events begin at 9 a.m. with events lasting until 3 p.m. This "little" celebration draws between 90,000 and 120,000 people each year.
Choose How You Celebrate
There seems to be a little something for everyone at the event. If you want to take a healthy approach to all of this you can even be a part of a 5K Fun Run. I suppose this is why all of this is under the umbrella of "St. Patrick's Day Parade/Festival". Just in case you don't want to do the math from earlier, this is the 44th annual parade. You can expect all the traditional elements you'd find in a parade along with bagpipers and people throwing beads to the crowd.
