I suppose you could send anything, anywhere if you really wanted to, but this is convenient.

It can be tough shopping for relatives who live far away. First, you have the problem of them being hard to shop for, then you have shipping problems. So what do you do if you want to send someone something thoughtful that they'd actually like?  That's the dilemma I was in and I came up with something cool.

My brother lives in Hawaii and I owed him a favor. Not knowing what the heck he actually needs, I figured food would be a good option. Now the logistics of sending food to Hawaii are tough. I didn't even get a return message from some of the places I contacted. Then it occurred to me, Pedro's Tamales.

I guess at this point I need to mention that Pedro's didn't even flinch. They weren't doing me any special favors and apparently this is just business as usual for them. I can go one better, they even personally contacted me about when they were going to ship them because they didn't want them to defrost in a warehouse over the weekend.

I think we often forget some of the wonderful businesses we have right here in our own backyard. I was able to get my brother a little bit of Lubbock, Texas flavor delivered right to his sandy doorstep in Hawaii.

I am also wondering what other food companies/restaurants here do this kind of shipping. If there's more, I'd really like to pass that information on. You can email me here.
