It's a good thing we have a lot of land in Texas

Where We're At

Currently Texas has 30.03 million residents while California sits at 39.03 million. In the grand scheme of things, that 6 million difference both seems small and huge. All it would take to change things up is slow to no growth or a downward trend in California while Texas enjoys it's recent influx of visitors.

Trends

We have to back up any study by saying "if things continue to trend the way they are". Anything could disrupt a trend or cause things to go off the rails a bit. With that disclaimer out of the way, let's look at what the current population trends are for California and Texas.

The Growth

Let's start with something a lot closer than 2100. Let's talk about 2050, a mere 26 years from now. In 2050 Texas is supposed to match California's population according to some sources (another says it will be all the way until 2067). Then, by 2100 Texas is expected to hit a population of over 97.9 million. In fact, DFW alone is expected to have a population of 33.91 million in 2100.

Will It Be Crowded?

So what does this mean to you? Unless you're in the big city, it may not mean anything at all. According to the survey, Texas is so big, that even at over 97 million, Texas still won't have the population density of Germany. The bigger problems will not be bumping elbows, they will be whether we have the water, or the infrastructure to keep these cities moving.

Dangerous, Exotic Animals You Can Now Legally Own in Texas

Texas has an estimated 7.2 million dogs, more than any other state. But perhaps you’re interested in branching out a bit and adding a less common exotic pet to your home.

Granted a few of these exotics are regulated and will require permits.
