Will Lubbock Claim The World Record For Tortilla Throwing?
Lubbock, Texas is sleeping on one of the greatest opportunities ever!
Texas Records
I certainly enjoy sifting through all the world records out there. It's also a little disappointing when I see a record that should totally belong to the State Of Texas and someone else has captured it elsewhere. Where's the state pride? I have a record that I would think would be completely "up for grabs" for Texas, and for Lubbock in particular.
Texas Tradition
As you may know Texas Tech students throw tortillas during games. It's been controversial, novel, a treat, and a pain. I guess you get to pick what it's meant to the university, but it's certainly unique to Texas Tech. One would think with all those strong arms out there, and the fact that it's pretty much a celebrated practice (in private) that we'd have tortilla throwing contests.

Own Your History
Why not take this Texas Tech tradition and take it to the next level. Why not just admit that tortilla throwing is our thing and run some halftime competitions? A world record could be ours instead of it belonging to the stinking state of Minnesota (I didn't even think Minnesota knew what a tortilla was).
The Record
Yes, the record tortilla toss belongs to a young fella in Minnesota who managed to fling a tortilla a little over 119 feet. That's a little over 39 yards if you want to think about this in relation to football field. Doesn't it seem like someone could easily beat that record? I'm not well versed in tortilla throwing myself, but this seems doable. Let's get it scheduled for next football season!
