We are certainly living in stressful times.

People Are Ridiculous

Do you remember those talking heads show on VH1 where they'd get a bunch of talking heads and comedians to look back on a year and make snarky comments? I think sometime in the future that show will look back on the pandemic years and show how truly stupid we were.  Forbes says that between February and March of 2000 toilet paper sales increased 700%. In the rearview mirror, it seems like 700% is a low-ball number. The point is, people love to fight over toilet paper.

The Incident

The Carrizales Rucker Detention Center is the site of the latest incident. For whatever reason one inmate requested that the other give him the toilet paper when he was done with it. That inmate apparently lobbed it at the others back, and earned himself a beat down for the disrespect. The assailant was removed from his cell and hit with additional charges in the form of assault with bodily injury, resisting, and the highly specific, "interfering with an emergency call".

Lessons Learned

My dear readers, your writer dislikes a crusty butt like anyone else, but we have to learn to live together whether it's during a pandemic or in jail. The need for toilet paper seems to be one of those things that seems to work itself out one way or another. The lack of poo-tickets tends to be a temporary problem in most civilized countries. Yes, it's important, but not worth being a jerk about.
