Texas High School Football Coach Says Wichita Falls is His Favorite Stadium
Shout out to this coach for making Memorial Stadium his favorite road venue.
Friday Night Football is back tonight. Here in Wichita Falls the Legacy Leopards will be at Memorial Stadium taking on Canyon Randall Raiders. While the Memorial Mavericks are on the road taking on the Andrews Mustangs. All over the state today, high school kids are getting ready for the big game. Looks like a coach over in Lubbock is a big fan of our stadium in Wichita Falls.
Lubbock-Cooper High School Coach Names Memorial Stadium his Favorite
Coach Darden of the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates has a weekly podcast where he covers the upcoming game for that week. Looks like this week the show ended with a little fun Q&A and I was shocked to see that Coach Darden mentioned Wichita Falls. The question was favorite away venue? (Fast forward to the 29 minute mark)
Coach Darden Remembers Rider Raiders
Coach gave a shout out to the old Rider Raiders and said that he loved coming to Wichita Falls for those match ups. He does admit, the stadium did got a lot better when the new turf was installed a couple years ago. Looks like 2023 was the last time Lubbock-Cooper took on the Rider Raiders in Wichita Falls. Coach Darden enjoyed that game as his Pirates got the win 34-7 against the at the time undefeated Raiders.
Memorial Stadium Gets Cotton Bowl Comparison
Coach Darden also compares the ramp at Memorial Stadium to the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. I'm not sure who built Memorial Stadium when it first opened, but now I am curious if they did that ramp onto the field as an homage to the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
