With all of the terrible things filling up everyone’s feeds, it makes it hard to have a positive outlook. Everything from inflation to mass shootings, it can be hard to feel good about the world we are currently living in as an American.

That is why we have to take a moment to appreciate the little things in order to remind ourselves that not all is bad.

I’ve done a pretty good job of curating my social media feed to primarily show me happy and uplifting things. Because of this, I feel like I get to see many kind people doing selfless things simply because it is the right thing to do.

I see everything from a community coming together to help people in need, to small moments of connection with complete strangers. I love all of these, and one video that really stood out to me is probably the simplest of all.

In Los Angles, California, a woman accidentally left their front door open after a long day, falling asleep without realizing her mistake. In the morning she was met with a heartwarming video of a complete stranger doing a very kind gesture.

Noticing the door open, a random many walking by at 3:00 a.m. came up to the home. He noticed the video doorbell and gently said, “I’m closing your door,” shutting it quietly and carrying on his way.

Doing something like leaving your door open on accident can unfortunately end in terrible ways. This is especially scary if you are a woman living on your own. Seeing a kind person understand this and close the door for a stranger returns some of my faith in humanity.
