Gas Prices Fall In Texas As Residents Prepare for Holiday Travel
Across the state of Texas, people are getting ready to travel. The busiest travel days of the year happen around Christmas and this year will be no exception. The good news for travelers who are hitting the roads? Gas prices in Texas are falling at just the right time.
Gas Prices in Texas Drop Before Christmas
Earlier in December, the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in the United States dropped below $3.00 for the first time in about four years. According to KENS5, that national average now sits at $2.50.
According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of gas is $2.49. Here in Texas, today we match the national average with a price per gallon of $2.49 for regular. Which is down 10 cents from the price one month ago of $2.61. That's about what we paid one year ago, a price of $2.60.
In Lubbock, I've seen has prices much lower. And it appears as though the drop in prices may continue for a while.
